After analyzing the vmcore, I found this issue is caused by page migration.
The scenario is that, one thread is doing page migration, and we will use the
target page's ->mapping field to save 'anon_vma' pointer between page unmap and
page move, and now the target page is locked and refcount is 1.
Currently, there is another stress-ng thread performing memory hotplug,
attempting to offline the target page that is being migrated. It discovers that
the refcount of this target page is 1, preventing the offline operation, thus
proceeding to dump the page. However, page_mapping() of the target page may
return an incorrect file mapping to crash the system in dump_mapping(), since
the target page->mapping only saves 'anon_vma' pointer without setting
PAGE_MAPPING_ANON flag.
There are seveval ways to fix this issue:
(1) Setting the PAGE_MAPPING_ANON flag for target page's ->mapping when saving
'anon_vma', but this can confuse PageAnon() for PFN walkers, since the target
page has not built mappings yet.
(2) Getting the page lock to call page_mapping() in __dump_page() to avoid crashing
the system, however, there are still some PFN walkers that call page_mapping()
without holding the page lock, such as compaction.
(3) Using target page->private field to save the 'anon_vma' pointer and 2 bits
page state, just as page->mapping records an anonymous page, which can remove
the page_mapping() impact for PFN walkers and also seems a simple way.
So I choose option 3 to fix this issue, and this can also fix other potential
issues for PFN walkers, such as compaction. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
staging: vchiq_arm: Avoid NULL ptr deref in vchiq_dump_platform_instances
vchiq_get_state() can return a NULL pointer. So handle this cases and
avoid a NULL pointer derefence in vchiq_dump_platform_instances. |
| A flaw was found in libxml2. A local user or an attacker providing a specially crafted XML catalog can trigger a NULL pointer dereference during XML catalog parsing. This occurs when a `nextCatalog` element lacks its mandatory `catalog` attribute, leading to the application crashing and causing a Denial of Service (DoS). |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
KVM: arm64: Derive GUEST_HAS_SVE from the SVE feature bit at EL2
pkvm_init_features_from_host() takes KVM_ARCH_FLAG_GUEST_HAS_SVE and
KVM_ARM_VCPU_SVE from the host separately, but pkvm_vcpu_init_sve()
tests the bit while vcpu_has_sve() reads the flag. A host that sets the
flag without the bit gets a vCPU with a NULL sve_state that the world
switch loads the guest's SVE state from.
Derive the flag from the bit, and drop the protected path's copy of the
host's flag, which is dead code since protected VMs are not allowed SVE. |

| P-Net before 1.0.3 dereferences a NULL AR pointer when handling an implicit read request without a valid target AR UUID for a record index that requires an AR (AR specific indices 0xE000-0xEFFF, and the expected identification data of a slot or subslot). A remote unauthenticated attacker can send such a request to crash the device (denial of service). |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bpf: Mark sched_process_wait argument as nullable
do_wait() passes wo->wo_pid to the sched_process_wait tracepoint.
kernel_wait4() leaves wo_pid NULL for wait4(-1), and
kernel_waitid_prepare() does likewise for waitid(P_ALL).
btf_ctx_access() currently types argument 0 as PTR_TO_BTF_ID |
PTR_TRUSTED. Without PTR_MAYBE_NULL, the verifier accepts an unchecked
dereference. Trusted pointer loads have no fault protection, so a wait for
any child can then cause a NULL pointer dereference in JITed BPF code.
Add sched_process_wait to raw_tp_null_args[] with argument 0 marked
nullable. The verifier rejects an unchecked dereference while preserving
access after the program checks the pointer for NULL. |
| P-Net before 1.0.3 dereferences a NULL AR pointer in pf_fspm_cm_read_ind() when handling an implicit read request without a valid target AR UUID for a user specific record index, if the application has registered a read callback. A remote unauthenticated attacker can send such a request to crash the device (denial of service). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: hisilicon: hip04_eth: Move setting of netops to fix crash
hip04_mac_probe() calls of_phy_connect() before ndev->netdev_ops is
assigned. phy_attach_direct() -> phy_link_topo_add_phy() reads
dev->netdev_ops through netdev_need_ops_lock() since the commit in
question, so probing crashes with a NULL pointer dereference when
CONFIG_NET_SHAPER is enabled.
Assign netdev_ops before the PHY attach, as was done for emac in commit
7c9f391ec89c ("net: emac: move setting of netops to fix crash"). |
| Nezha Monitoring is a self-hostable, lightweight, servers and websites monitoring and O&M tool. From 2.2.7 until 2.2.11, ServiceSentinel.worker in service/singleton/servicesentinel.go checked an owned service under servicesLock and later dereferenced pointer-valued serviceStatusToday and serviceCurrentStatusData entries under serviceResponseDataStoreLock without revalidating that ServiceSentinel.Delete had not removed them. A RoleMember could concurrently report TCP or ICMP results through the member's own agent and delete the same owned service, causing a nil pointer dereference. Because the gRPC server had no recovery interceptor, the worker panic terminated the whole dashboard process and disrupted every tenant's web interface, REST API, and agent connections. The issue affects availability only and does not disclose or modify data. This issue is fixed in versions 2.2.11 and 2.3.0. |
| kin-openapi is a Go project for handling OpenAPI files. From 0.136.0 until 0.149.0, three openapi3filter decoder paths that were missed by the fix for GHSA-p6wj-qrr4-pgh5 lack a nil-items guard for legal OpenAPI 3.1 array schemas. An unauthenticated remote client can trigger a deterministic nil-pointer panic through an array query parameter, a deepObject query parameter containing an array property, or an application/x-www-form-urlencoded request body whose array property appears inside an allOf, anyOf, or oneOf subschema. The query and composed-body paths reach urlValuesDecoder.parseArray, while the deepObject path reaches buildResObj, and all pass a nil items schema into code that dereferences it. This issue is fixed in version 0.149.0. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tipc: fix NULL deref in tipc_named_node_up() on empty publication list
User-space applications can bind a large number of service addresses to
one or more sockets. Each binding of a local-scope service address inserts
one entry (publication) into the TIPC name table. If the number of these
publications exceeds TIPC_MAX_PUBL (65535), protocol service types
(such as node state and link state) are no longer inserted into the name
table. This causes two issues:
1. User-space applications subscribing to node or link up/down events
stop receiving notifications.
2. A NULL pointer dereference can occur:

tipc_nametbl_publish(); |
If 'tipc_nametbl_publish()' (Thread 1) fails because the number of
local publications reaches TIPC_MAX_PUBL, list (Thread 2) will be empty. As a
result, NULL is passed to 'buf_msg()', leading to a NULL pointer dereference.
Fix these issues by allowing protocol service types (node state, link state,
and topology server) to be inserted into the name table unconditionally.
This ensures that users subscribing to these types always receive
notifications. In addition, the maximum number of local user publications is
reduced to (TIPC_MAX_PUBL - 1). This ensures that the maximum bulk size
calculated in tipc_link_set_queue_limits() remains valid. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
accel/rocket: search every core slot when looking up a scheduler
sched_to_core() walks rdev->cores[] up to rdev->num_cores, and
rocket_remove() decrements num_cores for every core it removes. Unbind a
core that is not the last one and the cores behind it fall outside the
search, so sched_to_core() returns NULL for a core that is still bound and
still running jobs. Neither caller checks the result:
rocket_job_run(): rocket_fence_create(core), core->dev
rocket_job_timedout(): dev_err(core->dev, "NPU job timed out")
Unbinding the middle core of the three on an RK3588 while three clients are
submitting to all of them faults twice, once from the surviving core's
job queue and once from its reset work:

Both are the third core: the workqueue names are its device and its
core->index, and it was left at slot 2 while num_cores had dropped to 2.
Search all the slots that were allocated, the way find_core_for_dev() now
does. A core that is still bound is then found, and the two callers get
the pointer they already assume they have.
This does not make unbinding one core out of several safe. An open client
keeps an entity pointing at the scheduler of the core that went away:
drm_sched reports it as not ready for every job that lands on it, and the
client waits in dma_fence_default_wait for a fence that will never signal.
Stopping the NULL dereference is what belongs in a fix; the rest wants
more thought. |
