CVSS v3.1 |
| A weakness has been identified in omec-project amf up to 2.1.3-dev. This affects an unknown function of the file ngap/handler.go of the component NGAP Message Handler. This manipulation causes null pointer dereference. Remote exploitation of the attack is possible. The exploit has been made available to the public and could be used for attacks. Upgrading to version 2.2.0 mitigates this issue. It is recommended to upgrade the affected component. The same pull request fixes multiple security issues. |

| ### Summary
`qs.stringify` throws `TypeError` when called with `arrayFormat: 'comma'` and `encodeValuesOnly: true` on an array containing `null` or `undefined`. The throw is synchronous and not handled by any of qs's null-related options (`skipNulls`, `strictNullHandling`).
### Details
In the comma + `encodeValuesOnly` branch, `lib/stringify.js:145` mapped the array through the raw encoder before joining:
```js
obj = utils.maybeMap(obj, encoder);
```
`utils.encode` (`lib/utils.js:195`) reads `str.length` with no null guard, so a `null` or `undefined` element throws `TypeError`. `skipNulls` and `strictNullHandling` are both checked in the per-element loop below this line and never get a chance to run.
Same class of bug as the filter-array path fixed in 0c180a4. The vulnerable shape of the comma + `encodeValuesOnly` branch was introduced in 4c4b23d ("encode comma values more consistently", PR #463, 2023-01-19), first released in v6.11.1.
#### PoC
```js
const qs = require('qs');
qs.stringify({ a: [null, 'b'] }, { arrayFormat: 'comma', encodeValuesOnly: true });
qs.stringify({ a: [undefined, 'b'] }, { arrayFormat: 'comma', encodeValuesOnly: true });
qs.stringify({ a: [null] }, { arrayFormat: 'comma', encodeValuesOnly: true });
// TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'length')
// at encode (lib/utils.js:195:13)
// at Object.maybeMap (lib/utils.js:322:37)
// at stringify (lib/stringify.js:145:25)
```
#### Fix
`lib/stringify.js:145`, applied in 21f80b3 on `main` and released as v6.15.2:
```diff
- obj = utils.maybeMap(obj, encoder);
+ obj = utils.maybeMap(obj, function (v) {
+ return v == null ? v : encoder(v);
+ });
```
`null` and `undefined` now pass through `maybeMap` unchanged and reach the `join(',')` step as-is. For `{ a: [null, 'b'] }` this produces `a=,b`, matching the non-`encodeValuesOnly` comma path (which already joins before encoding and produces `a=%2Cb` for the same input). Single-element `[null]` arrays still collapse via the existing `obj.join(',') || null` and remain subject to `skipNulls` / `strictNullHandling` in the main loop.
### Affected versions
`>=6.11.1 <6.15.2` — fixed in v6.15.2.
The vulnerable code shape was introduced in 4c4b23d and first shipped in v6.11.1. Earlier versions — including all of 6.7.x, 6.8.x, 6.9.x, 6.10.x, and 6.11.0 — implemented the comma + `encodeValuesOnly` path differently (joining before encoding) and are not affected. Empirically verified across released versions.
### Impact
Application code that calls `qs.stringify` with both `arrayFormat: 'comma'` and `encodeValuesOnly: true` (both non-default) on input that may contain a `null` or `undefined` array element will throw synchronously instead of producing a query string. In a typical Node.js HTTP framework (Express, Fastify, Koa, hapi) the sync throw is caught by the framework's error boundary and the affected request returns a 500; the worker process does not exit and subsequent requests are unaffected. The "kills the worker process" framing applies only to call sites outside a request-handler error boundary (background jobs, startup paths, stream pipelines) or to deployments with framework error handling explicitly disabled.
The vulnerable input is a `null` or `undefined` entry inside an array; this is reachable from JSON request bodies or from application code constructing arrays from user input, but not from standard HTML form submissions (which produce strings or omitted fields, not literal `null`). |
| NanaZip is an open source file archive. From 5.0.1252.0 to before 6.0.1698.0, a null-pointer dereference exists in the UFS/UFS2 filesystem image parser in NanaZip. The vulnerability is triggered when opening a crafted UFS image where the root inode (inode 2) is set to IFLNK (symlink) instead of IFDIR (directory). The parser unconditionally treats the root inode as a directory without checking its type, and when the symlink has an embedded target (small di_size), the directory data buffer is zero-length, causing a null-pointer dereference on the first read. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.0.1698.0. |
| A security flaw has been discovered in omec-project amf up to 2.1.3-dev. The impacted element is the function RANConfiguration of the file ngap/handler.go. The manipulation results in null pointer dereference. The attack may be launched remotely. The exploit has been released to the public and may be used for attacks. Upgrading to version 2.2.0 is sufficient to resolve this issue. Upgrading the affected component is recommended. The same pull request fixes multiple security issues. |

| libsixel is a SIXEL encoder/decoder implementation derived from kmiya's sixel. From to 1.8.7-r1, a wrong NULL check after an allocation call in sixel_decode_raw and sixel_decode causes a NULL pointer dereference whenever the allocation fails. The check tests the address of the output parameter (always non-NULL) instead of the value the malloc returned. On allocation failure, the function continues and writes through a NULL pointer, crashing the process. This is a denial of service against any caller of these public APIs that hits a low-memory condition. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.8.7-r2. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ublk: fix NULL pointer dereference in ublk_ctrl_set_size()
ublk_ctrl_set_size() unconditionally dereferences ub->ub_disk via
set_capacity_and_notify() without checking if it is NULL.
ub->ub_disk is NULL before UBLK_CMD_START_DEV completes (it is only
assigned in ublk_ctrl_start_dev()) and after UBLK_CMD_STOP_DEV runs
(ublk_detach_disk() sets it to NULL). Since the UBLK_CMD_UPDATE_SIZE
handler performs no state validation, a user can trigger a NULL pointer
dereference by sending UPDATE_SIZE to a device that has been added but
not yet started, or one that has been stopped.
Fix this by checking ub->ub_disk under ub->mutex before dereferencing
it, and returning -ENODEV if the disk is not available. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iio: imu: adis: Fix NULL pointer dereference in adis_init
The adis_init() function dereferences adis->ops to check if the
individual function pointers (write, read, reset) are NULL, but does
not first check if adis->ops itself is NULL.
Drivers like adis16480, adis16490, adis16545 and others do not set
custom ops and rely on adis_init() assigning the defaults. Since struct
adis is zero-initialized by devm_iio_device_alloc(), adis->ops is NULL
when adis_init() is called, causing a NULL pointer dereference:
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000000000000000
pc : adis_init+0xc0/0x118
Call trace:
adis_init+0xc0/0x118
adis16480_probe+0xe0/0x670
Fix this by checking if adis->ops is NULL before dereferencing it,
falling through to assign the default ops in that case. |
| Null pointer dereference in Windows TCP/IP allows an unauthorized attacker to deny service over a network. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
media: rockchip: rga: Fix possible ERR_PTR dereference in rga_buf_init()
rga_get_frame() can return ERR_PTR(-EINVAL) when buffer type is
unsupported or invalid. rga_buf_init() does not check the return value
and unconditionally dereferences the pointer when accessing f->size.
Add proper ERR_PTR checking and return the error to prevent
dereferencing an invalid pointer. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/panel: Fix a possible null-pointer dereference in jdi_panel_dsi_remove()
In jdi_panel_dsi_remove(), jdi is explicitly checked, indicating that it
may be NULL:
if (!jdi)
mipi_dsi_detach(dsi);
However, when jdi is NULL, the function does not return and continues by
calling jdi_panel_disable():
err = jdi_panel_disable(&jdi->base);
Inside jdi_panel_disable(), jdi is dereferenced unconditionally, which can
lead to a NULL-pointer dereference:
struct jdi_panel *jdi = to_panel_jdi(panel);
backlight_disable(jdi->backlight);
To prevent such a potential NULL-pointer dereference, return early from
jdi_panel_dsi_remove() when jdi is NULL. |
| A possible null pointer reference in PgBouncer before 1.25.2 could lead to a crash, if a server sends an error response without SQLSTATE field. |
| Argo Workflows is an open source container-native workflow engine for orchestrating parallel jobs on Kubernetes. From version 4.0.0 to before version 4.0.5, a nil pointer dereference in server/auth/gatekeeper.go rbacAuthorization() causes a panic (denial of service) for SSO users whose claims match a namespace-level RBAC rule but not an SSO-namespace rule, when SSO_DELEGATE_RBAC_TO_NAMESPACE=true. This issue has been patched in version 4.0.5. |
| Null pointer dereference in Windows LDAP - Lightweight Directory Access Protocol allows an authorized attacker to deny service locally. |
| When an HTTP/2 profile and an iRule containing the HTTP::redirect or HTTP::respond command are configured on a virtual server, undisclosed requests can cause the Traffic Management Microkernel (TMM) process to terminate. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ASoC: amd: acp3x-rt5682-max9836: Add missing error check for clock acquisition
The acp3x_5682_init() function did not check the return value of
clk_get(), which could lead to dereferencing error pointers in
rt5682_clk_enable().
Fix this by:
1. Changing clk_get() to the device-managed devm_clk_get().
2. Adding proper IS_ERR() checks for both clock acquisitions. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
staging: rtl8723bs: fix null dereference in find_network
The variable pwlan has the possibility of being NULL when passed into
rtw_free_network_nolock() which would later dereference the variable. |
